CHICAGO (July 2, 2023) - For the first time in sports history, NASCAR took to the streets, an experience one Notable Live on eBay auction winner won’t soon forget.
The two-day event kicked off with eBay winner Rex Trautman and one of his friends walking through the pits with Iwuji Motorsports co-owners Emmitt Smith and Jesse Iwuji before Saturday’s Xfinity Series Race.
“First class opportunity, to actually walk in the pit row area and see the drivers and talk to some of the crew members,” Trautman said.
Following his up-close experience at the track, Trautman and his friend camped out with Smith and Iwuji a few stories above the race for a panoramic view from Venue SIX10 of turns seven and eight.
“It’s totally different from even the stands,” Trautman mentioned. “I think if it’s anything you’d ever consider, even if you just want to meet Emmitt or meet a driver like Jesse Iwuji that would be fun.”
Smith, who is the NFL’s All-Time Leading Rusher, was also part of an eBay Live event from Venue SIX10. The team held auctions during the event which featured race-used bumpers, car panels, and tires.
Trautman along with every fan in attendance saw history for the Cup Series Race, The Grant Park 220. Shane van Gisbergen took the checkered flag, which marked the first time in 60 years that a driver won his Cup Series debut.
It was a massive moment for the sport, but Trautman will never forget the couple of days he spent in the Windy City.
“A very good opportunity to not only mix in with some famous people like Emmitt Smith and Jesse Iwuji…but to actually hang out with him, to go into the pit area, and do some fun things,” Trautman said. “It was just a world class experience.”
